The Poet in each of us

This posting has been misplaced.

  1. Okay, I'll have to admit that I've never read Santayana; however I used to have several of his albums. I knew he played the guitar but I really didn't realize that he also wrote poetry.

I would like to state for the record that I am impressed with my brother's ability to create this site. I'm not a blogger and you will not find me on facebook. In fact, I can't even text message.

One of Mother's "sayings" she has repeated more times and for more years than I can remember, prompted me to Google its origin. It turns out that part of Philippians 4:11 reads, "in whatsoever state I am, there within to be content". I have not heard her say it lately and I don't think that she ever imagined that it would need to apply to her current condition; however she has accepted her current state of mind (or lack thereof) so much better than her children. Even in her current condition she continues to teach.

We have a picture of Mother with a "saying" that that Joan credits to me. She says that I told this to Mother a year or so ago and she repeated it to our daughter Tammy who put it to frame,

    Mother,
Your mind may not always remember,
But your heart will never forget
    That I love you

I think its more likely that I heard it somewhere and remembered it.

  2. That's my dad. The apple didn't fall far from the tree.
    Love,
